Luciente

This is an easy one; Luciente is the spiritual guide who appears magically to Connie and tells her what her role is (sort of) and what the future will be (in surprising detail). When Connie escapes from the asylum and needs to know how to find water and food, Luciente tells her.

When Connie is unsure whether to kill a bunch of people who have power over her, Luciente explains, "Power is violence. When did it get destroyed peacefully?" (19.69). If you want to know how scientists should treat people, or how babies should be born, or whether you'll ever get in trouble for that overdue library book, ask Luciente. She's the guide; she knows.
