North Korea announced that it was withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty on this day in 2003, making it the first nation to do so and angering several other nations in the process. Incidentally, they're also still at war with South Korea. We know what you're thinking: "But Shmoop! What about the Armistice Agreement of 1953? Didn't that peace treaty end the war?" Sure did.
