On this day in 1996, Stephen King released two books at once: Desperation, which was published under King's real name, and The Regulators, which was published under his pen name, Richard Bachman. What a show off, eh? The two books were intertwined and depicted parallel universes. Characters in one book appeared in the other, for example, and if you held the two books up side by side, it formed a complete painting.
