Crazy Rich Asians Theme of Friendship

In such a materialistic world, friendship seems difficult to come by. Do these people like me for me or my money? (Psh, we ask ourselves that all the time, too...)

There are essentially three sets of friendships that are presented: Nick and Colin, Rachel and Peik Lin, and Eleanor and her crew of gossipy moms. The younger generation has built quality friendships that offer support and stability for each other. This contrasts with Eleanor's group of friends; while they are supportive, it's in support of destructive behaviors that meddle in and attempt to upset their children's lives. Especially poignant is when nearly each of Eleanor's friends relate how their children no longer speak to them after their meddling.
