Like all good coming of age stories, Blood Red Road features plenty of sibling rivalry, romantic confusion, and political assassination. Er, well, there's just one political assassination, but that's more than enough in our book. Our heroine here, by the way, is Saba, an eighteen-year-old girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances after her twin brother Lugh is kidnapped by a fearsome paramilitary force known as the Tonton. That's real stuff. As she sets off in search of Lugh, fighting tooth and nail to survive, Saba ends up doing a more than just kicking Tonton behind—she becomes an adult.
