The Rapist

He's not a character per se: we never see his face or hear him speak. But he's the one behind all of Martine's trauma and nightmares, the person she has to face and fight every night of her life. By default, he haunts Sophie as well. She also has to bear the possibility that she looks like the man who so violently fathered her.
