Rena, Santeria Priestess, and Therapist

Sophie chooses Rena to help her work through the problems she has with her mother… and with her own body image and sexuality. Rena offers Sophie practical observations (i.e. telling Sophie that she has a "Madonna-image" of her mother) but also embraces ritual healing (suggesting an exorcism for her mentally ill mother). As with many therapists, Rena really is a sounding board for Sophie, a kind of amplifier for the things that Sophie already knows she needs to do.
