Charles Kane/Susan Alexander

Apart from his mentor Jed Leland, Charles Kane doesn't have anyone who challenges him more than his second wife, Susan. The two get married quickly out of love, but it doesn't take long for Susan to realize that there's something wrong with the way Charles relates to people. He has a way of trying to control people around him by bribing them with gifts.

And for Susan, this is totally hollow. Charles can't understand why Susan isn't happy with their big mansion, but that's only because he's completely blind to certain aspects of the human heart that Susan can see perfectly clearly.
