Charles Foster Kane

Love him or hate him, Charles Foster Kane is our main dude. If the title of the movie didn't give it away, the opening newsreel in this movie shows us that we're about to spend the next two hours trying to figure out what kind of guy Kane was before he died. Along the way, we learn about all his greatest strengths and weaknesses.

In the end, it looks like the weaknesses win out. But that's the thing about tragic characters. They have a way of failing and dying on us.
