Clarissa Harlowe

Clarissa's got the protagonist thing on lockdown. Besides being virtuous and kind, she always sticks to her guns when it comes to her romantic life. And since every other character is obsessed with Clarissa's romantic life, that takes some serious stubbornness. While she might not be as sassy as we'd want her to be, she's plenty spunky when she chooses lockup over marrying Solmes. And even when she makes a misstep, like skedaddling with Lovelace, Clarissa stays strong by recording everything that's happened. Even when she's on death's door, Clarissa orders her own coffin and slaps on a smile. That's some Class-A protagonist spirit.
