Ethel is the big love of Chester's life. She's beautiful and she's sweet. She's his first serious girlfriend and the woman he ends up marrying and starting a family with. Sadly, their romance begins falling apart once the kids grow up and Chester and Ethel decide to get a divorce.

The relationship between Chester and Ethel isn't a conventionally romantic one, in other words. It's not a love story with a happy ending. It's a love story with a sad ending, because the two don't stick together.
