• We first meet Britomart when she knocks Guyon off his horse, but soon the two knights are reconciled.
• She then helps out Redcrosse while he's fighting the knights of Malecasta, and then spends an awkward evening in Malecasta's castle when Malecasta tries to seduce Britomart, thinking she's a man.
• This doesn't end well, so Redcrosse and Britomart take off and on the way starting chatting about Britomart's crush, Artegall, whom Britomart pretends violated her in order to get all the dirt.
• Speaking of Artegall, we then get the backstory on Britomart's thing for him: apparently, she fell in love, like, really in love, with him after seeing his face in a magic mirror.
• Britomart becomes so sick with love for Artegall that her nurse Glauce finally goes to consult the wizard Merlin about what to do.
• He comforts her by showing her the long line of kings that will arise from her eventual marriage to Artegall and so Britomart and Glauce decide to dress as knights and go look for him.
• After she finishes her story, she and Redcrosse part ways and Britomart soon runs into Marinell, who she attacks and quite seriously wounds.
• She then winds up at the house of Malbecco, where she fights with Paridell but then makes up with him after revealing herself to be a woman.
• After leaving the house of Malbecco, she comes across poor Scudamore, who is worried about his love Amoret, who has been taken captive by Busirane.
• Britomart decides to save Amoret and bravely enters the house of Busirane where she sees some disturbing tapestries, watches an even more disturbing show, and then finally charges in to save Amoret and to capture Busirane.
• Unfortunately, once she and Amoret escape Busirane's house, it seems that Scudamore has gone so the two head off together in search of him.
• They wind up at a marriage tournament where Britomart totally rocks, knocking lots of knights, including Artegall off their horses and is proclaimed the winner.
• She's uninterested, however, in claiming the prize—the False Florinell—and so she and Amoret peace out.
• Amoret, however, gets separated from Britomart just before Britomart runs across Scudamore and Artegall, both of whom she unhorses and fights until Artegall is astounded by her beauty.
• She passes on the sad news of Amoret's departure to Scudamore, and then she and Artegall reveal their love for each other.
• However, she's still worried about Amoret so she and Scudamore go off in search of her, but while searching she finds out that Artegall is a captive of Radigund and the Amazons.
• She heads off to free him and on the way kills the sons of Dolon and stops by the temple of Isis, where she has a vision of her and Artegall's future.
• Finally, she makes it to the Amazons, battles Radigund, and cuts of her head.
• She and Artegall are temporarily re-united but then they have to separate when he goes off on his quest.
