We’re talking about those three big speeches in Fahrenheit 451, appropriately spaced in the three distinct parts. They go something like this: 1) Books are bad. 2) Books aren’t the answer—they have to reflect life. 3) Rebellion is personal and can’t be forced. Most people aren’t ready for what books have to offer. These speeches show Montag’s progression and trace the lessons he learns as the text goes on.
