  • They travel through the cavernous mines, with Gandalf's lighted staff leading the way.
  • As they pause to let Gandalf remember the correct direction, Frodo notices someone following them.
  • Gandalf tells him it is Gollum, who was released and is still being called to the Ring.
  • Then they enter the great dwarven city of Dwarrowdelf, and Gimli runs to the room where his kin and the king of Moria, Balin, is buried.
  • As Gandalf reads from a log-book of the battle with the goblins, Pippin knocks a skeleton down a shaft and wakes up the entire orc establishment.
  • The fellowship stands their ground and fights off the orcs, even though a cave troll provides a bit of a problem.
  • It stabs Frodo with a spear but, thanks to Bilbo's mithril armor, he remains unharmed.
