Flipped (Julianna)
- We've been hearing Bryce's side of the story for a whole chapter, and now it's time to see how Juliana's tale compares. And guess how she starts off? By telling us how much she loves Bryce, of course.
- For Juli, it all begins when Bryce moves onto her street. She's been bored of hanging around with her brothers, and this means she spends all her time playing soccer with her dog, Champ, and waiting for a new friend to arrive.
- So remember how Bryce gets annoyed when this troublesome Juli girl hops into his moving van? Well Juli tells the story a little differently—she says she didn't want Bryce to have to keep working, so she decides to help out.
- When Juli follows Bryce toward his house, somehow they end up holding hands. We know Bryce wasn't a fan of this holding-hands-with-a-girl stuff, but Juli is super into it. She basically has an out-of-body experience as she looks into her dreamy Bryce's blue eyes. And to boot, she's pretty sure he almost kissed her.
- So Bryce hides in the bathroom, Lynetta teases him big-time, and Juli eventually goes back home.
- Now Juli gives us a breakdown of how the next few years go for her:
- Second Grade: Juli's big crush on Bryce has her trying to kiss him all the time.
- Third Grade: Same thing—pucker up, Bryce.
- Fourth Grade: Juli has stopped chasing Bryce because, you know, she's a mature gal by then. Not that she doesn't still thinks about him all the time…
- Fifth Grade: That horrible Shelly Stalls starts holding hands with Bryce. Juli hates everything about Shelly—that Shelly is a drama queen, the way Shelly is always pretending to be frail so she can get out of PE class, and especially Shelly's huge hair. Oh—and then there's the fact that Shelly has stolen Juli's main man, Bryce.
- So Juli thinks Bryce needs help getting rescued from Shelly, and her attempt at saving Bryce from Shelly turns into a huge fight between the two gals.
- By sixth grade, Juli and Bryce are at least on speaking terms. He's kind of nice to her, and she loves sitting by him in class because sometimes he's looking over her way. We know that this is because Bryce is cheating, which isn't cool at all, but Juli has no idea.
- Once Juli is sitting behind Bryce, she decides to help him out on spelling tests. She feels bad about it, but she also wants to save him from detention. Juli's got a bit of a savior complex it seems…
