Katsa Timeline and Summary

  • Katsa sneaks into King Murgon's dungeons in Sunder where she knocks out and drugs all the guards so Oll and Giddon can get in and rescue the kidnapped Prince Tealiff. On her way out, she meets Po. Who she also knocks out and drugs.
  • After delivering the now rescued Prince Tealiff to Raffin, Katsa rides to Estill with Giddon and Oll to punish a borderlord for King Randa.
  • Back at Randa's court, Katsa encounters Po again, wrestles him, and decides he's trustworthy.
  • Katsa and Po begin to train together and grow increasingly close.
  • On her next mission for Randa, Katsa decides not to carry out his orders, which makes her feel both very strong and very nervous.
  • When she realizes that Po hasn't been honest about his Grace, Katsa confronts him, yells at him, and storms back to her rooms.
  • Raffin convinces Katsa to listen to Po's reasons for keeping his Grace a secret. She does, and she kind of sort of gets it.
  • When Randa calls her to his throne room, Katsa holds her ground. She threatens him, tells him she won't do his dirty work anymore, and announces she's leaving his court for good.
  • Katsa and Po set off to find out who's responsible for Tealiff's kidnapping and why.
  • They head to an inn just outside Murgon City where Katsa has some girls cut all her hair off.
  • In the middle of the night, some unsavory merchants begrudgingly give Katsa and Po some semi-helpful information that makes them suspect King Leck of Monsea is behind the kidnapping.
  • On their way to Monsea, Katsa realizes she's fallen in love with Po and has an extremely premature mid-life crisis.
  • Eventually Katsa decides that while she can't marry Po, she can become his lover. Which she does. Ooh la la.
  • Katsa and Po climb and descend a mountain to get into Monsea, where they encounter Leck.
  • Katsa is completely befuddled by Leck's Grace and only gets away intact because Po convinces her to cover her ears and run.
  • Katsa and Po find Leck's daughter, Bitterblue, and retreat to the mountains to make a plan.
  • They decide Po must try to assassinate Leck. He leaves to give it a go, and Katsa paces back and forth all day, until Po returns from his mission, unsuccessful and gravely injured. The three of them flee with Leck's guards hot on their trail.
  • Reluctantly Katsa consents to leave Po behind and run with Bitterblue.
  • Katsa battles mountain lions and hypothermia to get Bitterblue safely into Sunder, where they board a ship to Lienid, intending to rest and regroup at Po's castle.
  • At Po's castle, Katsa finds Leck in the throne room and her mind is immediately muddled.
  • When Leck threatens to expose the truth of Po's Grace, Katsa recovers enough of her free will to land a dagger in his throat.
  • Katsa returns to Monsea with a small entourage and finds Po, who (shocker) is now blind.
  • After a few weeks working through Po's issues with him, Katsa and Po return to Leck City, which is now called Bitterblue City, for Bitterblue's coronation.
  • Katsa and Po go back to the mountains, have a nice little camping trip, and make plans for their futures—apart and together.
