Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 Scene 25 Summary

  • Harry heads into the Forbidden Forest.
  • From his pocket, he takes out one of the gifts Dumbledore left him in his will in the last movie: the Snitch he caught in his first Quidditch match.
  • Harry puts the Snitch to his mouth, and it opens to reveal a stone.
  • Harry knows what this is: it's the Resurrection Stone from the "Tale of the Three Brothers." Hmm, maybe there is hope?
  • Suddenly, in front of him, Harry sees his mother and other departed friends. He asks why these ghosts are here, and Lily claims they never left.
  • Harry turns to Sirius and asks if it hurts to die, and Sirius says it's just like falling asleep. Harry's dad and Remus offer their own encouragement.
  • Harry then asks them to stay with him, and James agrees to stick with him until the end.
  • Then Harry lets the stone drop. Wait, what? No—don't you want to keep that just in case?
  • Harry really is embracing death. We know we've said it before, but what a brave kid.
