Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin

You'll find out more about Roland Emmerich from the "Director" section, but let's spend a little bit of time on Dean Devlin, Emmerich's partner-in-crime on the writing side. Like Emmerich, he's used to wearing several hats on the film set, with experience as an actor and producer in addition to the whole writing thing.

Emmerich and Devlin have been frequent collaborators on the production and writing sides, working together on films like Godzilla and The Patriot (and the 2016 Independence Day reboot, of course).

However, Devlin's also branched out on his own and into less action-y fare as a producer (for example, he served as executive producer in the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car?). As a writer, though, he's maintained a pretty heavy sci-fi and action focus. Clearly, he's got some talents in that area.
