Character Analysis
Leopold is another of the acquaintances from Freud's waking life who appears in the Dream of Irma's Injection. Freud used the name "Leopold" as a pseudonym for Dr. Ludwig Rosenberg, the real-life brother-in-law of Oskar Rie (source).
In the Dream of Irma's Injection, Leopold is one of the three doctors who examine dream-Irma after Freud summons help. Unlike the dream's Otto and Dr. M., Leopold actually seems to know what he's talking about. In fact, Freud's interpretation of the dream makes it clear that Leopold's sole purpose in the dream was to make Otto look bad by comparison (2.1.27).
Talk about family tension.
