Mr. Potter

No surprise here. Potter is George's major obstacle in business and in life. He wants to take control of the Building and Loan, depriving George of his life's work helping the people of Bedford Falls. He also temporarily deprives George of his satisfaction with his life by convincing him that because he's not wealthy, he's worthless. He's as nasty and destructive as a good antagonist can be.
