George and Mr. Potter

George and Mr. Potter are two obvious foils. Potter is wicked, selfish, greedy, and exploitative. George is exactly the opposite: kindhearted, selfless, loyal, and loving. Potter's character makes George's virtuous qualities even more striking. George needs Potter in order to truly recognize his own value.
