Agent J

Agent J is the protagonist because he's the one we root for. He's charming and brave and finds himself having to save the world from an evil alien on his second day on the job. We imagine that can be pretty stressful, and we like to see good people triumph over adversity.

Jay's also our surrogate character in the film. Agent K has a handle on the whole aliens-living-on-Earth thing, but Jay's just as baffled as we are to see Jeebs head grow back. This allows us to vicariously experience the film from Jay's point of view, and the result is that we want to see him succeed even more. We're as proud as he is when we see him in his new MiB boss suit after inheriting Kay's position.
