Character Analysis

A squid-like alien from the dark reaches of space, Reggie is what you'd get if Cthulhu decided to settle down with a nice girl and start a family.

When we meet Reggie and his wife, they've illegally left their designated zone to board a spaceship leaving Earth. They're going AWOL because they don't like the "new arrivals" on Earth and fear for their future baby. This provides Kay with the first clue that will eventually lead him and Jay to a confrontation with the Bug. It's also a clever nod to the immigration dilemma—how once you get to your new place, you want to close the door behind you because the next group…well, there goes the neighborhood.

Jay helps deliver their child, a squid-alien-baby, um, thingy. It's his first assignment with the Men in Black and he does very well all things considered—and by "all things" we mean, of course, giving birth to an alien baby.
