The Trial/ Screenplay:
- The screenplay gets a bit tricky here, so picture this: A four-way split-screen montage with shots of witnesses and defendants—sometimes Steve or King, and sometimes black/white space (12.1). You can only hear one witness at a time as the montage continues.
- Allen Forbes, a city clerk, is the first witness; he testifies that Nesbitt's gun was registered.
- Detective Williams comes next. He describes the crime scene when he arrived, and explains that he and his pal Karyl outlined the body in chalk and took a look around. He says they found Bobo through the lead Sal Zinzi gave them.
- Third up is Dr. James Moody, the medical examiner, who describes how Nesbitt died—basically he drowned in his own bloodbath. Yikes.
- Steve gasps out loud.
- James King tilts his head and acts like he doesn't care. That's classy… oh wait, no it isn't.
