Character Role Analysis

Robin/Lancelot

The foil is right in the names: Sir Lancelot the Brave and Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot. We have one character that isn't afraid of peril in the least…or so it seems.

Really, the two stories he finds himself in—his own and Galahad's—aren't exactly perilous. We think that if Lancelot ran into the three-headed giant, he'd take him head on just like he assaulted the stone in that castle wall. But there's no way of knowing because his quests were ironically devoid of the need for any real courage. Sir Robin, on the other hand, could have really used some courage. It's too bad their roles weren't switched: we might have a dead giant and some not-dead wedding guests.
