- After a whole year, Lancelot has still not made a move on Guenever.
- Guenever sees his behavior as no different from Sir Bors allowing those twelve maidens to jump to their deaths. Lancelot's just so selfish.
- Lancelot is starting to also see things this way. He wants to keep his duty to God, but does he really have the right to sacrifice Guenever in this way?
- Everything blows up one day when the two are singing together. All of a sudden, Guenever tells Lancelot to leave—go on a quest or something, but he's wearing her out.
- Lancelot tells her that he's torn between his new love (God) and his old love (her).
- Sarcastically, he tells her that they can start over if she really wants that, but when he turns around from the window, Guen is gone.
- So, he packs up his stuff and takes off the next morning.
