The Once and Future King Book 3, Chapter 5 Summary

  • Lancelot and Guenever fall in love with each other shortly after this incident.
  • Arthur is ambivalent about the situation, so decides to take Lancelot with him to the war against Rome.
  • The war against Rome is all about shutting down the tyrannical dictator, Lucius. So, Arthur's just trying to do what he did for England, but on a wider scale.
  • Lancelot is not yet the head honcho best knight of Arthur's Round Table; that's Gawain.
  • During this war (which takes several years), Arthur grows to really like Lancelot, and no longer believes Merlyn's prophecy that he and Guenever will hook up.
