Character Analysis
Max Taber is a wild card among the men on the mental ward because apart from McMurphy, he seems to be the one who is least afraid. That might have something to do with the fact that unlike most of the other men, Max Taber is not in the hospital voluntarily.
That makes him dangerous—maybe just as dangerous as McMurphy is. And like McMurphy, Taber likes to stir up trouble, especially when it comes to bugging Mr. Harding. We get a hilarious instance of this when Taber harasses Harding while he's trying to play a game, saying "Come on. Play the game Harding!" over and over. Deep down, Taber might even be violent like McMurphy, but we never really see this come out.
