One Whole and Perfect Day Chapter 19 Summary

Bestie

  • Lily is reading a teen magazine called Bestie, which is jam-packed with tons of tips about how to look great, feel great, dress great, lose weight, and know if people are talking about you behind your back.
  • She typically finds this stuff a waste of time (gee, we have no idea why), but had to get this particular issue because it has an article about how to get guys to notice you. And we're pretty sure we know which guy she has in mind.
  • Lily reads the article and realizes it's more about how to act like someone you're not as a way of getting a guy to like you. She knows that isn't who she is.
  • What she does know is that she's not particularly attractive according to the definition of most teen girls—especially her short, stocky figure and thick eyebrows.
  • Desperate to do something to change this, she goes to the bathroom and starts plucking her brows until the skin around them is red.
  • Things get a little embarrassing when her mom catches her in the hallway and asks why her face is red.
  • And then they get worse when she goes in Lily's bedroom with her and sees the copy of Bestie on the bed. She starts laughing and Lily has this sick feeling that her mom knows about her crush on Daniel.
