The Message
- Nan has requested that Lonnie and Clara come for the whole weekend so they can get better acquainted with her and Pop.
- On the train, Clara sees her parents' house from the window and begins feeling guilty that she didn't tell her mother about the engagement.
- She tells Lonnie about her realization that she's treated her mother horribly, bullying her the way her father does.
- The girl in the black dress makes an appearance. Lonnie writes his mom's address on a piece of paper and tells her to come see Marigold for help—except for this weekend, when she should come to Nan and Pop's instead.
- When the train arrives in Katoomba, Lonnie and Clara get a big surprise: Pop is there waiting. He doesn't look angry. He isn't rage-ridden. Instead, he kisses Clara on the cheek and says it's good to see them.
