Pinocchio Scene 12 Summary

  • We fade to black and return to see a whale sleeping on the floor of the ocean, which is as scientifically feasible as a walking, talking puppet.
  • We go inside this creepy beast and see Geppetto sitting inside a wrecked ship. He's fishing while Cleo and Figaro look on. Things look like they're getting rough.
  • Suddenly, Monstro wakes up. He opens his mouth and consumes a large school of tuna.
  • Geppetto is pretty psyched about this—he's finally got food.
  • Monstro begins chasing the fish, leading him straight to Pinocchio and Jiminy. They swim as hard as they can to escape his grasp.
  • Meanwhile, Geppetto's ship is tossing and turning like it's in the middle of a hurricane. At least he's got a lot of food, though.
  • Monstro's moving too fast and he swallows Pinocchio whole. Jiminy manages to stay out of the whale's teeth, however.
  • Geppetto is still fishing like a fiend. His hook snags Pinocchio and he reels the puppet aboard the ship.
  • It takes him a moment (as usual), but he's overjoyed once he realizes that his son is safe and sound. Even Figaro is psyched.
  • When he takes off Pinocchio's hat, however, he sees the donkey ears. What the what is going on?
  • Meanwhile, Jiminy is desperately trying to make Monstro open his stinky jaw. After a while, he's forced to take refuge inside a floating bottle due to the onslaught of angry birds.
  • Inside, Geppetto's telling Pinocchio that he made a raft, but is unable to escape. Instead of worrying about that, he continues, they should make a fire and enjoy their meal.
  • That's it, cries Pinocchio. They can use fire to create smoke, thereby forcing Monstro to cough and expel them.
  • They start breaking a bunch of stuff and Pinocchio gets a fire going.
  • We see Monstro sitting on the surface of the water. Slowly, smoke starts pouring out of his blowhole. Then his mouth. Having no other choice, the giant whale starts coughing.
  • After a great deal of struggle, the group is expelled from Monstro's mouth aboard the raft. They almost get sucked back in, but manage to get away.
  • Suddenly, Monstro recovers and goes after our heroes once again. He dives so he can snag them from below, but only manages to upend their boat.
  • They get back on and desperately try to row away, but the raft gets destroyed by Monstro's tail.
  • We see Pinocchio struggling among the wreckage. Geppetto tells him to save himself, but Pinocchio refuses and tries to help.
  • He pulls Geppetto toward a cave on shore, and manages to get inside before Monstro makes a meal out of them.
  • Geppetto washes up on shore alongside Figaro and Cleo. Jiminy arrives a few moments later. But where's Pinocchio?
  • Facedown in a pool of water, as it happens. Ouch.
