Kerrigor and Touchstone

A foil is a character that, by being different, illuminates qualities in another character, most often the protagonist. No one really stands opposite Sabriel though, so for this book we're going to go ahead and say that Kerrigor and Touchstone are foils to each other, though it's a little bit of a stretch. Nonetheless, they are half-brothers—one good, the other evil—and when Sabriel opens Kerrigor's sarcophagus, she's struck by the resemblance between the two.
