My boy has stopped talking to me
- Slocum's boy has stopped talking to him, and he can't stand this. In fact, he wants to cry about it.
- Slocum's boy used to have dreams that his door was closed and he couldn't see his parents, and now Slocum has dreams that his son's door is closed and he can't see him. Trippy.
- Slocum's son now goes to bed without saying goodnight and closes his door.
- Slocum recalls the story of the mice in their city apartment incorrectly, and his wife reminds him that they were roaches. Now Slocum questions his memory, and frankly, so do we.
- Slocum's daughter steals the car under the false pretense that Slocum had granted her permission.
- Slocum feels safer in the office than he does at home, where he fears things have got out of control.
- After his promotion, Slocum finds he's regarded with envy, hope, fear, ambition, suspicion, and disappointment.
- Kagle stays only a short time, and Green takes Slocum's old job.
- Slocum still might be losing his mind, because he thinks sees his barber at a business lunch and Green begging in the street in the rain.
- Slocum's mistress Penny is pregnant again, but not by him, and he has given her money for the abortion.
- Slocum discusses Derek with his wife, and the two agree that they don't want to talk about sending him away. Slocum claims he's committed crimes, with the victims always being his children.
- Slocum recalls a memory when a man fell dead in the lobby of his office building and he continued walking past him as if nothing had happened. He was disappointed when he returned to find that the body wasn't there, and someone had "distorted reality for the sake of neatness."
- Slocum's wife is upset again, feeling like she doesn't make a difference to anyone anymore. Slocum agrees that his wife is probably right.
- Slocum's afraid that he will open his eyes and only see darkness.
- Slocum shares a moment with his son in which he is staring at his son, his son asking why he is staring at him, and Slocum is saying that he is thinking about when he was going to ask why he was staring. Awww.
- Slocum claims he wants his father back, and he wants his little boy back, too.
- Slocum's lamentations are interrupted by "Something's happened!" Could this be the something?
- Yes, folks, it's the moment we've all been waiting for.
- A teenager yells out, and Slocum goes running over to a crowed gathering outside of a shopping center.
- A car is on the sidewalk, and a glass window has been shattered.
- Slocum finds his son lying on the ground screaming in agony as his legs and arms are twisted unnaturally and blood spews from his face. Oops, we probably should have warned you this was a bit bloody.
- Slocum is panicked and in shock, and he can't stand to see his son in pain.
- Slocum decides he has to do something.
- Slocum hugs his son so hard that he suffocates him, an act of mercy killing to alleviate his son's pain.
- Later, the doctor reveals that Slocum's son's death was due to asphyxiation. In other words, he would have survived the injuries.
- All Slocum can say is not to tell his wife. All we can say is oh, yikes.
