- The coach is Coach Jericho, and he tells Will to do his favorite activity: run.
- One of the other runners is Todd Hodak, and Will decides to run faster than Todd and win the race.
- Even though a couple of Todd's buddies try to hurt Will and knock him off the path, Will still wins.
- Coach Jericho is impressed. Will might have a place on the track team. It's a team full of people who hate him, but it's still a team. After all, there is no "I hate you" in "team."
