Exactly how steamy is this story?
PG-13
There is definitely a lot of sex going on in this book, but Fielding is never explicit about any of it. He makes rude puns and mentions breasts a fair amount, but Tom Jones is still surprisingly non-graphic—Fielding seems more interested in thinking about sexual morality than in describing anything in great detail.
Considering that sex is important enough in this book to get its own separate "Theme" in our analysis, we're actually a little surprised that Fielding never strays into R-rated territory. But hey, if you want a raunchier romp through Tom's many beddings (and wedding), check out the film Tom Jones, starring a young Albert Finney.
