Would you ever agree to have your memories erased? In Wings, Laurel apparently did, when she decided to give up her faerie life and live as a human. She did this in order to ensure that the land containing a gateway to Avalon (the faerie homeland) would be protected… but boy did it mean a big sacrifice on her part.
She doesn't remember the special connection she shared with Tamani, or the fact that she has magical abilities. Her human parents also needed to have their memories erased at various points, in order to make sure that her non-humanness remained hidden from them. We're not sure how we feel about non-consensual memory erasure, but hey, anything for the greater good, right?
