Character Role Analysis
Mr. and Mrs. Allgood
When Whit and Wisty are in prison, they often flash back to things their parents said or did while they were growing up. The Allgoods are a tight-knit clan, but mentorship mom and dad provide goes far beyond normal parenting. They provide Whit and Wisty with the tools they need while they're incarcerated (a drumstick and a journal, which are actually magical things), and they also give the siblings purpose after their escape. Finally, at the end of the story, Wisty stares into her mother's eyes so she can get all the knowledge she needs to become a witch, and Whit does the same with his dad. Now that's mentorship.
