Please Ignore Vera Dietz Part 2, Chapter 8 Summary

New Year's Day—After Work

  • After work, Vera goes off with James. He stops by the bar to pick up some alcohol for them, and Vera asks for some more vodka coolers.
  • By 1:00AM, they're up at the pagoda, getting drunk, and making out. Vera's having a great time and starts to get frisky; she straddles James and whispers some things into his ear.
  • Then she opens her eyes and sees that thousands of dead Charlies are in the backseat, squished together and watching her.
  • She opens the door and stumbles out to get some fresh air. James is worried and asks her if she's okay.
  • When Vera looks at the car, the dead Charlies are drawing things in the steamed up windows—they're drawing dead animals and the word tell. Yikes.
  • Vera tells James that she needs to go home to study for a vocab test, and he agrees to take her home. As they're driving though, a cop car pulls them over and she realizes that things are going to get way worse.
