  • Pierre falls asleep and suddenly remembers his old geography teacher. He thinks about a globe made out of drops of water that are struggling to reflect God as well as they can. Um, OK.
  • He wakes up and sees Platon’s little dog. Just as he is starting to think about the fact that Platon has been killed, he quickly distracts himself and falls back asleep.
  • When Pierre wakes up, the village is being overrun by Denisov’s men.
  • The freed prisoners kiss their rescuers.
  • Dolokhov and Denisov take almost two hundred French men prisoner.
