War and Peace Volume 4, Part 3, Chapter 4 Summary

  • It’s a wet fall day. Denisov and Co. are riding toward the place where they’ll attack the French transport. The idea is to let the delivery take place, then make the raid.
  • Suddenly two riders approach with a letter from a nearby general (most likely asking Denisov to join his detachment and do the raid together).
  • Denisov reads the letter and realizes that one of the riders is Petya Rostov. A familiar face.
  • Petya is psyched to a crazed degree and is totally bromancing it up with Denisov.  He decides to stay with Denisov's band and join the raid.
