Division-I basketball gets a lot of attention. The spotlight is especially bright on power conferences like the Big 10, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the Big 12, or the Pac 12. If you play for a high-caliber D-I team, or make it to March Madness, you better start primping.
You're going to get some screen time on national TV. Hi, Mom!
D-II, D-III, and NAIA, on the other hand, don't receive a lot of attention. While there are tournament-style national championships for these lower divisions, they do not receive nearly the amount of coverage that March Madness does.
If you're a top D-I athlete, you'll have your face plastered all over ESPN. Fans will be buying your jersey. Your university will be breaking the bank. The TV networks will be breaking the bank. The only one not breaking the bank is…you.
You'll have to go pro to land that endorsement deal. That's where the big bucks are. Good luck on draft day. Or, you know, study hard…and become a stock broker. Plenty of dolla dolla billz to go around in other pro-fessions.
