12 Monkeys Scene 10 Summary

  • We return to Cole's dream. This time, the boy notices Jeffery Goines with a briefcase and a long ponytail running through the airport.
  • A man with a raspy voice wakes Cole in the year 2035. Cole looks around the room but doesn't see anyone.
  • Cole asks him where he is, but the man with a raspy voice says he may be in the next cell, a spy from the central office, or just a figment of his imagination. He's the Daniel Day-Lewis of creepers—dude can play any role.
  • The man with the raspy voice asks Cole how it went in the past. Cole says they sent him to the wrong year, and the man reassures him that "science ain't an exact science with these clowns, but they're getting better."
  • Yep, super reassuring.
  • Cole is taken to the Scientists, and they play him a recording. It's distorted as all get out, but we can clearly hear Dr. Railly talking about the Army of the 12 Monkeys.
  • They ask Cole if he made that call. He informs them he couldn't make it because they sent him to the wrong year.
  • The Scientists are perplexed—you know, the exact opposite reaction you want from people mucking about with time.
  • Cole is shown a series of slides and asked if he knows any of the people. Cole points out Jeffery Goines at an animal rights rally.
  • The Scientists ask Cole if he wants another go at it.
