Ben Corbett

Before we even start the book, Alex Cross fills us in on our protagonist: "The main character is a man my grandmother knew here in Washington, a smart and courageous lawyer named Ben Corbett" (Pre.5). We could point out that Ben is the one we root for throughout the novel, and that he definitely undergoes a change by the end, but it hardly seems necessary given that intro by the book's "author," Alex Cross.
