Oscar Belling is the name of the ex-boyfriend Julian Baffin is just getting over at the start of Bradley Pearson's narrative. It's his love letters that have been torn up and thrown into the road like white flower petals, and it's his magical balloon that Julian lets loose into Ealing's suburban skies.
Since Julian signs her postscript as Julian Belling, not Julian Baffin, it seems fair to assume that Julian was never quite as over him as Bradley's narrative leads us to believe.
