Fandoms
Does Harry Potter have fans? Does Harry Potter have fans?
Is water wet? Is the Pope Catholic? Is the square root of 81 minus the square root of 16 equal to 5?
In other words: yes.
In addition to creating the material for seven original Potter books and eight movies, J.K. Rowling is also writing the screenplays for the series of movies based on the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. She also collaborated on the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Hey, give the Potterheads what they want, right?
And if reading and watching people act out stories about the witches and wizards isn't enough to satisfy that craving for magic and Muggles? Well, immerse yourself more fully in the experience at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a theme park where you can ride in a mine car through Gringotts bank and buy butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks. (We recommend the frozen variety.)
Of course, there's also fan conferences like Leaky Con where attendees cosplay as everyone from Hedwig to a doe Patronus and wizard bands (like our personal favorite, Harry and the Potters) rock out.
And it doesn't stop at the local level. Many communities also have Potter festivals and colleges have established Quidditch teams. (Tragic spoiler: none of these collegiate Muggles ever successfully fly.)
And hey: if just want to geek out from the comfort of your own home, you can try browsing any of the amazing fansites—try The Leaky Cauldron or Mugglenet. And no fandom would be complete without fan fic galore—beware the spicy stuff.
You can also check out the official Pottermore site where you can be sorted into your Hogwarts house or find out what your Patronus is. (We're a woodmouse. That's, um, cool, right?)
