- In the middle of the cheering Hogwarts crowd, Harry suddenly collapses. Why?
- He sees a vision of Sirius. He's in the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic and Voldemort is torturing him for information.
- Harry tells Ron and Hermione that he needs to do something. They can use the Floo Network to get to the Ministry, but the only fireplace that isn't being watched is in Professor Umbridge's office.
- Unfortunately, they're caught before they can disappear into the fireplace. Darn those kittens plates hanging on her walls. They see everything.
- The Inquisitorial Squad rounds up Neville, Ginny, and Luna, too, since they were apparently trying to get to Harry.
- Umbridge sends for Snape because she needs Veritaserum—a truth serum—to use on Harry. Snape tells her he used up the last of it on Cho Chang. Oh, so that's why she revealed the secret location of Dumbledore's Army.
- Harry is getting pretty desperate at this point, but he knows Snape is a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Before Snape turns to leave the room, Harry tells him, "He's got Padfoot in the place where it's hidden!"
- Umbridge wants to know what Harry is talking about and Snape tells her he has no idea. So much for that plan.
- Umbridge realizes she has no choice. She's going to have perform the Cruciatus Curse on Harry for information. Sure, it's illegal and immoral, but desperate times call for the indiscriminate torture of children.
- Hermione shrieks out that Harry should just tell Umbridge the truth. You know, about Dumbledore's secret weapon and where it's hidden. Oooh, Hermione's a smart one.
