Heist Society Chapter 3 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Hale takes Kat to his mansion in New York. Notice we specified which mansion this is: the New York one, of course. His family has more houses than a Monopoly board.
  • Anyway, while there, the butler, Marcus, brings Kat and Hale some sandwiches. Then Hale tells Kat that he has a message for her from her Uncle Eddie: "He's got to give them back" (3.33). These people are cryptic, alright. We have no idea who "he" or "them" are at this point.
  • Hale elaborates eventually. It seems that Kat's dad, Bobby Bishop, stole a bunch of paintings from Arturo Taccone. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, as we're guessing this family is usually pretty good at theiving, but Taccone, "he's a whole different kind of bad" (3.44). (Different than what? The Michael Jackson song?)
  • In the middle of the night, Marcus, the Alfred to Hale's Bruce Wayne, brings Kat a plane ticket to Paris. And away she goes.
