Hà is a textbook protagonist. She fits the bill so neatly. Main character? Check. Narrator? Check. Decent human being whom we can root for instead of hate? Check. Do all kinds of people and events get in the way of her realizing her happiness? Check.

In other words: Do we care about anyone more than we care about Hà? Absolutely not.
