Write Naked
- Trina is in English class. They're starting with their journals, but she's drawing a blank. The topic for the day is "With ______ I am complete" (12.7).
- When Ms. Bauer tells the class to write truth, write naked, the boys and girls predictably latch on to the word naked. Because naked.
- But then they get down to business. And Trina doesn't know what completes her—she listens to other kids write, and thinks that her own life is complete.
- Then she thinks that Mami is what completes her, even though Mami has never told Trina who her father is.
- Although Trina has enough to write, she ends up taking the easy way out and writing that life is good. Way to ruin a chance to show us you're more than a pretty face, Trina.
