Anton (Javier Bardem)’s Timeline and Summary
- Anton Chigurh is loaded into a police cruiser and brought into a rural station. While the deputy speaks on the phone, Chigurh walks up behind him and strangles him with the chain of his handcuffs.
- Chigurh steals the deputy's car and pulls over another driver on a lonely road. He uses an air-powered steer killer to murder the man and take his car.
- Chigurh enters a gas station and buys some gas and peanuts. The man behind the counter makes enough small talk to start irritating Chigurh, who flips a coin and tells the clerk to call it heads or tails. We get the sense that the man's life is on the line. But the man chooses correctly and gets to keep the coin, which Chigurh tells him not to put in his pocket.
- We see Chigurh walking with two Americans to the site of the botched drug deal. He examines Llewellyn Moss' trucks and pries the registry plate off the door. Then he takes a transponder designed to find a briefcase full of drug money and kills the two Americans.
- Chigurh visits Llewellyn Moss' trailer but finds that the guy has packed and left. He goes to the trailer park's office and asks where Moss works, but the woman won't give out private information.
- Chigurh calls Carla Jean Moss' mother after fining Llewellyn's phone bill. He asks if the woman is expecting Llewellyn, and the woman asks why in the world she'd expect him.
- While driving to Odessa, Chigurh hears his transponder beep. He follows it to the motel where Llewellyn Moss is staying. But since Llewellyn has stashed the drug money in an air duct, Chigurh thinks he is in the wrong room. He instead busts in on three men from the Mexican drug cartel and kills them. He figures that the Mexicans must have a transponder tracking the briefcase as well.
- Chigurh tracks down Llewellyn at another hotel and tries to kill him. A shootout ensues and Chigurh barely escapes with a bad wound in his leg.
- Next on the agenda is blowing up a car on the street to cause a distraction while he steals medical supplies from a pharmacy. He heads back to a hotel room and treats his wounds.
- Chigurh returns to the hotel where Moss was staying and ends up killing Carson Wells, the man who's been hired to hunt him down. The phone rings and Chigurh picks it up to talk to Moss on the other end. He tells Moss he can still save his wife if he gives up the money and his own life to Chigurh. Moss tells him off and says he'll be coming for him soon.
- Chigurh steals a chicken truck on his way to intercept Moss at the El Paso airport.
- After Moss is dead and the money is gone, Chigurh goes to kill Moss's wife. He offers to flip a coin and give the woman a 50/50 chance, but she rejects the offer.
- Chigurh drives away from Carla Jean's house and gets hit by another motorist running a red light. Chigurh makes a sling for his arm and walks away before the ambulance arrives. It's the last we see of him. FOR NOW.
